Dot dot dot is hot…

Dress: H&M

Dotted dresses are always a good idea and this spring season they are even one of the many fashion trends. (see this Funky Forty post for 5 more spring trends) Great, since I absolutely love polka dot dresses. I have got a black & white one with romantic ruffles and an olive green one with bell sleeves. Both dresses can be styled into casual or formal wear and anything in between. I can also wear both dresses nearly all year long. I am sure you see why I love them…

A summerly winter skirt with palm trees

Top: H&M, Skirt: Tally Weijl, Boots: Andrés Machado, Sunglasses: Cerjo, Necklace: gift (all previous seasons)

It’s so cold this week and I am actually more in the mood for spring! In anticipation of warmer temperatures and sunny weather, I have therefor chosen to show you my palm tree skirt this week.

Fake fur bear wear

Trousers: Jacqueline de Yong, Top & Vest: H&M, Boots: Graceland, Bag: Maddison (all previous seasons)

The Rock of Gibraltar has got its apes, the Tower of London has got its black ravens and the city of Bern has got its brown bears. For a day trip to Bern I choose to wear a fake fur vest and warm fake furry boots. I felt I was totally in style with the city of bears. Both my vest and my boots were bought at the children’s department, so the prices were accordingly small. That also matched my visit to Bern perfectly. Bern is the capital of Switzerland (I am leaning against the Federal Palace here) and at the same time a very small and charming place. Both my outfit and the city prove that small can be great too!

A scarf to style a sweater and to protect my voice

Trousers: H&M,  Jumper (new): Tally Weijl, Scarf: Vögele, Boots: Piure

Temperatures have dropped, soft and white snow has fallen (see here). It’s winter wonderland in the mountains in Switzerland: time for cosy and warm jumpers.

As soon as I saw this blue jumper I fell in love with it. It’s very soft, a perfect fit for petites and the curved hem reminds me of tulips. Combined with a pair of camel coloured trousers and a matching scarf I create a comfortable and classy outfit for in the classroom. An additional benefit of the scarf is that it also protects my voice.

Wild and full of passion

Hat and Jumper: H&M, Bag: Tally Weijl, sunglasses: Cerjo, Trousers: Jacqueline de Yong (previous seasons)

Saying ‘Hi’ to the next semester of this school year. I am in the middle of the theme ‘wild animals’ with some of my classes, so I have chosen to wear this jumper to school this week (without the hat of course). Pupils really pick up this kind of subtle details, like with my halloween dress for example.

Super short flower dress

Dress: Yes or No, Sunglasses: Cerjo

“Just living is not enough….one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower” H.C. Andersen. Or, in my case, one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower dress. This dress offers a perfect length for petites, but is far too short for me to feel comfortable in at school. Well, since I am still enjoying my Christmas break, I am happily wearing my little black flower dress. It’s wrinkle friendly, offers subtle bell sleeves and is an easy wear combined with leggings and knee-high boots. The shades of red combined with green and black form a beautiful colour scheme (and a very apt one for the holiday season). The white lace reminds me a bit of the traditional Dirndl dresses you find in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, which is a fun detail of the dress.

Black and white Christmas dress

Dress: Sha & Sha, Top: Street One (both previous seasons)

In my last blogpost for 2017 I would like to show you one of my most versatile dresses for special occasions. I have worn this dress at (dinner) parties, at a wedding, to a funeral and I will probably wear it to one or more of the many Christmas events we will attend next week. It is chique and playful at the same time, totally wrinkle-friendly, very comfortable, full of special details and both practical boots and high heels combine well with it. Of all the special details, I like the frill collar most. It reminds me of the dress worn by Snow White’s stepmother. Story lover that I am, this is an additional bonus for me.

Grey day, grey day

Jumper: Yes or No (new), Skirt: Esprit, Boots: Andrés Machado (previous seasons)

In winter we have a phenomenon in Switzerland that is called: ”unten grau, oben blau”. It means that the days can be cloudy and grey in the lower areas of the country and that you can have a beautiful blue and sunny sky when you get higher into the mountains. Some days you just have to look actively for some sunshine.

Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change

Coat: Yes or No, Dress: Zara, Boots: Dansi (all previous seasons)

I just love this dress. Although I bought it a few years back, it still is one of my favourite winter ones. It is warm, wrinkle-friendly, combines well with knee-high boots and is easy to cycle and move around in. By now you will know how much I value many of these characteristics in my outfits for school.

For a long time my husband has had a completely different view on the same dress. It reminded him of a rug (oh yeah) and therefor he really didn’t like it at all. That, of course, was something I didn’t like at all. One day, after seeing some work of Escher, inspiration hit me…..
