“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.” – Anonymous
After having enjoyed so many snow walks this winter, we decided to swap the snow for sand and we went to Fuerteventura in February. Wow, what an island! You can find so many different beaches and coastlines there, just amazing.
On my blog I often talk about small changes with huge effects and ladies, I’ve got a great example for you this week!
The first day of our holidays we went to the beach on the east coast of Fuerteventura. The second day we went to the west coast. As the island is pretty small, the change to go from east to west (or west to east) is not a big deal. The effect of that small east-west change is anything but small: it’s big, it’s huge, it’s enormous!
OK, not so big, huge and enormous as the difference between east and west we have grown up with, but still quite impressive. Have a look for yourself: Four beaches, four outfits, four stories. Enjoy!

“Gray skies are just clouds passing over.” – Duke Ellington
I think the colour combination of blue and grey is beautiful. Grey days are part of life and so are days with bright blue skies. I personally think the expression “winter blues” is a funny one, since most winter days are “winter greys” in the part of the world where I live.
Since I have enjoyed both winter blues (literally: bright blue skies up in the mountains) and winter greys (also literally: in the low lands) over the past few weeks, I have combined both colours in one winterly outfit this week.
“Enjoy the butterflies of winter. Each as unique and amazing as you!”
Since pictures sometimes speak louder than words, a blogpost with lots of photos and few words.
Wel…that was the plan. Honestly! Truth is that I just like writing too much to go for photos only. I will still show you a lot of snowy photos this week and use the opportunity to tell you why pictures often speak louder than words and how you can use that knowledge.
“Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far.”
– Thomas Jefferson
The same Friday that I published my blog post about hiding the Xmas extras we went for a super snow shoe walk. Not because I wanted to bring the “walk your talk” quite literally into practice, but because there was an abundance of freshly fallen snow and you should always take your chances when they present themselves, right?!

“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”
– Anthony J. D’Angelo
Living close to the mountains means that you can often go there to find both snow and sunshine in winter. A luxury I highly appreciate and often enjoy. And when even going to the mountains does not bring sunshine, I bring the sunshine myself!

“Walking Your Talk Is A Great Way To Motivate Yourself. No One Likes To Live A Lie. Be Honest With Yourself, And You Will Find The Motivation To Do What You Advise Others To Do.”
– Vince Poscente
I am a blogger who “walks her talks”. That means that I have enjoyed lots of yummy meals and cakes during the holidays and…tada…being 40+, this has had some effect on my beautiful belly! I can imagine that some of you may recognise this and that’s why I show you several stylish dresses and skirts that have this extra bonus of hiding your belly pretty well.

“What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year.”
– Vern McLellan
In my case it is this new sweater to start with…I use it in this week’s blogpost as a way to explain why you should stick to only one New Year’s Resolution. The one that matters to you. The one that makes a difference. The one that will determine what the New Year brings to you.
I will also show you three different ways to style it, since all good things come in threes!

My Christmas holidays are the perfect moment to relax and to reflect. This year I am in Switzerland during my holidays, enjoying the beauty this country has got to offer in winter. Lots of winter walks and skiing, followed by cosy evenings with my family or friends (see this previous blogpost).

I assume many of you have enjoyed several Xmas events these past few weeks, like lunches, dinners, parties and so on. Sometimes they start right after work and that’s why I love this festive yet easy outfit. I can quickly create it after a day of teaching by only changing a pair of trousers for black tights and this skirt. That way I am ready to join my friends for lunch after a morning of teaching, my colleagues for Xmas drinks after a day of teaching or my husband for a superb brunch after an early winter walk. Three Xmas events in the past week and since they all involved different people, I kind of cheated and repeated the same trick 3 times, getting lots of compliments 3 times too! Life is good.
