A sunny and stylish black and yellow outfit

“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.”

– Jim Goodwin

Last week you already had a sneak peak at this outfit. The colour scheme reminds me of a bee and that is what I have been lately: a busy bee. Busy with school, busy with voluntary work, busy with meeting friends and busy with organising a few “snack holidays“. Exactly in times like that, when you are a busy bee, you should make sure to make time to relax.

So, why don’t you do just that, grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and scroll through this week’s blogpost and maybe look at some more (you know there is choice of 100 others for you…), taking a moment for you!

The busy bee outfit

Black and yellow go well together, yet you have to be careful how to combine them. A real bumble bee look is probably not what you’re after. Because I have got a simple black basis and just some pops of yellow, the colour combination works well. It makes the black more playful and adds some sunny vibes as well.

As you can see I have chosen to knot the blouse and to wear a black top under it; both little tricks to make me look taller. Knotting the blouse also adds a casual element to a rather classy skirt, which I think is a more suitable style for a primary school language teacher than classy classics pure.

Both the skirt and top are pretty old by the way, so super sustainable staples.

I adore the zip detail of this top. When I combine the top with more yellow (scroll down for photos) or with shades of grey, I just love adding my little black bag, which has got a fancy zip-detail too. With my black skirt I prefer my bright yellow bag though.

The top also combines really well with my warm yellow cardigan, which makes it a top for both summer and winter.

That was all for this week: short, simple and stylish. Thank you for popping by and wishing you all a relaxing weekend! Make time to relax in a way that suits you, even when you feel you don’t have time for it!

Love,

Lieske (aka “Busy Lizzy”)

  1. Ha ha, hello Busy Lizzy! I just found out, yes I’m always a bit behind, that I like black and white with yellow as you can read on my blog today. I think I will wear it today with yellow. It’s a lovely combination. And your cute yellow bag is so perfect for your outfit. I think it’s a few weeks before the big holiday begins for you? I guess it’s always hectic at the end of a school year. But first it’s almost weekend! Enjoy yours! It’s Pinkpop for me!

    1. And it’s Paris for me! Love your black & white outfit a lot too. Very much you! Enjoy Pinkpop. Love, Lieske
