Advice from a palm tree…

~ Soak up the sun

~ Stand tall & proud

~ Remember your roots

~ Drink plenty of water

~ Be content with your natural beauty

~ Enjoy the view

It’s my May break, so a sunny and holiday inspired blogpost this week. Do you agree with me that palm trees symbolise sunny skies and relaxing holidays perfectly?

Although Fuerteventura is quite barren, there are some natural spots where you can find palm trees, like in the palm valley (Vega de Rio Palmas), close to Betancuria, one of the most picturesque villages of the island.

The palm valley is actually a riverbed, but since there isn’t a lot of rain on Fuerteventura, the riverbed is dry and barren, as most of Fuerteventura is, and offers a great walk towards an equally dry reservoir before you enter a gorge (with just a few small puddles) and a gorgeous view over yet another group of palm trees. This is a spot where scenes of the film “Exodus: Gods and Kings” were shot, like on Cofete beach (see my previous Fuerteventura blogpost about beaches).

In the resorts and beach towns there are plenty of palms, so you will have a daily reminder of that wise palm tree advice when you are on holidays on Fuerteventura.
