Back in black in a pretty and practical summer dress

A few weeks back I published some tips for happy summer days in Tips for happy summer days . I have followed quite a few of them myself (including the digital detox as you may have noticed) and have enjoyed some very happy summer days indeed. Now I’m back in black!

Challenging combination

This is a real summery dress with a somewhat winterly pattern and colour scheme. I think that is a rather challenging combination. Since I like challenges I convinced myself I would find a few occasions to wear the dress. And I was right!

Great dress for travelling

I have discovered that it is a great summer dress for evening events, for warm yet cloudy summer days, for in the classroom and for travelling. I have taken it with me for my city trip to Berlin in July. It was perfect for the occasion. The dress is wrinkle friendly and combines well with a pair of sneakers (or other comfortable shoes), both great assets for a city trip outfit (and for in the classroom for that matter). The temperature being slightly above 20° Celsius and the rather cloudy sky in Berlin went very well with this light, yet dark dress.

Potsdam & Berlin

The photos are taken at Potsdam (above) and Berlin (below), cities full of historic and beautiful sites. A photo diary will certainly follow in the near future.

Since my holidays are nearly over and a new school year is about to start, I’d love to share the following quote from Maya Angelou with you: “Travel to as many destinations as possible for the sake of education as well as pleasure.”

Isn’t this a great quote to connect the end of my holidays with the start of a new school year?

  1. Indeed a very practical dress which looks darned good on you. I have no objections against black clothes in summer, nor against bright colours in winter. As long as it looks good. Lovely pictures, you really did great with those backgrounds.

    1. Hi Greetje. Thanks for the compliment! The backgrounds are fantastic, aren’t they? Potsdam is really lovely, full of different quarters with each their own charm. FYI: The English looking photo is actually taken in the Dutch quarter of Potsdam.
